1. Agreement to Terms

Welcome to Anchor ("we," "our," or "us"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Anchor mobile application (the "App") and related services (collectively, the "Services").

By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Anchor is a Bible reading and study application that provides:

• Bible Reading: Access to multiple Bible translations
• Verse of the Day: Daily inspirational verses with themed rotation
• AI Chat Assistant: Bible study assistance powered by artificial intelligence
• Reading Progress: Track completed chapters and reading history
• Bookmarks & Favorites: Save and organize Bible verses
• Verse Sharing: Create and share custom verse images
• Personalization: Customize Bible version, font preferences, and settings
• Premium Features: Available through subscription plans

3. Eligibility

Age Requirements

• The App is available to users of all ages
• Users under 13 require parental or guardian consent
• Users between 13-18 should review these Terms with a parent or guardian

Account Requirements

• You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
• You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

4. User Accounts

Account Creation

• You must create an account to access certain features
• One account per person; do not create multiple accounts
• You are responsible for all activity on your account

Account Security

• Keep your password confidential
• Do not share your account with others
• You are responsible for all actions taken using your account

Account Termination

• You may delete your account at any time through the App settings
• We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms
• Upon termination, your data will be deleted within 30 days

5. Subscription Plans and Pricing

Premium Features

Subscribers receive:

• Unlimited AI Chat messages
• Ad-free experience (if applicable)
• Early access to new features
• Priority customer support
• Advanced study tools

Free Features

Free users have access to:

• All Bible translations
• Basic reading and bookmarking
• Verse of the Day
• Limited AI Chat messages (up to 50 per month)
• Verse sharing

Payment Processing

• Subscriptions are processed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store
• Payment will be charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account
• Pricing may vary by region based on local currency and App Store/Play Store policies

Auto-Renewal

• Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
• Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
• You can manage or cancel your subscription in your device's Account Settings

Free Trials

• We may offer free trial periods for new subscribers
• You will be charged when the trial period ends unless you cancel before it expires
• Only one free trial per user

Changes to Pricing

• We reserve the right to change subscription prices
• Price changes will not affect existing subscribers until their next renewal
• We will notify you at least 30 days before any price increase

6. Refunds and Cancellations

Cancellation

• You can cancel your subscription at any time through your device's Account Settings
• Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
• You will retain access to premium features until the end of your paid period

Refund Policy

• Refunds are handled by Apple or Google according to their policies
• Generally, subscriptions are non-refundable
• If you believe you are entitled to a refund, contact Apple/Google support or email us at Anchrapp@outlook.com
• We review refund requests on a case-by-case basis

No Pro-Rating

• If you cancel mid-cycle, you will not receive a pro-rated refund
• Access to premium features continues until the end of your billing period

7. AI Chat Feature

Acceptable Use

The AI Chat feature is provided to help you:

• Understand Bible passages
• Get answers to theological questions
• Receive study guidance and insights

Prohibited Use

You may NOT use the AI Chat feature to:

• Generate harmful, offensive, or inappropriate content
• Spam or abuse the system
• Attempt to circumvent usage limits
• Use for commercial purposes without authorization
• Violate any laws or regulations

Rate Limits

• Free users: Up to 50 AI chat messages per month
• Subscribers: Unlimited AI chat messages (subject to fair use)
• We reserve the right to implement additional rate limits to prevent abuse

8. User Content and Conduct

Your Content

• You retain ownership of bookmarks, notes, and other content you create
• By using the App, you grant us a license to store and display your content
• We do not claim ownership of your personal content

Shared Content

When you share verse images or content:

• You grant us a non-exclusive license to display and distribute the shared content
• Ensure you have the right to share any content you post
• Shared content must comply with these Terms

Prohibited Conduct

You agree NOT to:

• Use the App for any illegal purpose
• Harass, abuse, or harm others
• Impersonate any person or entity
• Distribute viruses or malicious code
• Attempt to hack or compromise the App's security
• Scrape, data mine, or extract data from the App
• Use automated systems (bots) without permission
• Violate any third-party rights
• Abuse AI features or attempt to bypass rate limits

9. Intellectual Property

Bible Translations

• Bible translations are provided by third-party publishers
• Each translation is subject to its own copyright and licensing terms
• Public domain translations (KJV, WEB, ASV) are freely available
• Premium translations may require additional licensing

App Content

The App itself, including design, layout, user interface, graphics, logos, branding, software code, and functionality, is owned by Anchor and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

License to Use

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms.

Restrictions

You may NOT:

• Copy, modify, or distribute the App
• Reverse engineer or decompile the App
• Remove copyright or proprietary notices
• Use the App's content for commercial purposes without permission

10. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with third-party services including:

• Supabase: Database and authentication
• OpenAI: AI chat functionality
• Bible API: Bible text retrieval
• RevenueCat: Subscription management

Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.

11. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability

No Theological Advice

• Anchor is an educational and devotional tool
• We do not provide professional theological, pastoral, or spiritual counseling
• Content is for informational purposes only
• Consult qualified religious leaders for important spiritual matters

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
• Our total liability will not exceed the amount you paid for subscriptions in the past 12 months
• This includes damages for lost profits, data loss, or service interruptions

Service Availability

• We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service
• We may suspend service for maintenance or updates
• We are not liable for service outages or technical issues

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Anchor, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

• Your use of the App
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any third-party rights
• Your misuse of AI features

13. Modifications to Service and Terms

Service Changes

We reserve the right to:

• Modify or discontinue features at any time
• Update the App with new versions
• Change subscription plans or pricing (with notice)

Terms Changes

• We may update these Terms periodically
• We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification
• Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance
• If you don't agree to new Terms, you must stop using the App

14. Termination

By You

You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time.

By Us

We may suspend or terminate your access if you:

• Violate these Terms
• Engage in fraudulent activity
• Abuse AI features or other services
• Engage in harmful conduct

Effect of Termination

Upon termination:

• Your license to use the App ends immediately
• Your data will be deleted within 30 days
• You remain liable for any outstanding obligations
• Provisions that should survive termination (disclaimers, limitations of liability) remain in effect

15. Governing Law and Disputes

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

Dispute Resolution

Before filing a lawsuit, you agree to:

1. Contact us at Anchrapp@outlook.com to attempt informal resolution
2. Allow 30 days for us to respond and attempt to resolve the issue

Arbitration

If informal resolution fails, disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the American Arbitration Association's rules, except:

• Small claims court disputes (under $10,000)
• Intellectual property disputes
• Claims of injunctive relief

Class Action Waiver

You agree to resolve disputes individually, not as part of a class action or collective proceeding.

Exceptions

Nothing in these Terms prevents you from reporting violations to law enforcement or regulatory authorities.

16. Miscellaneous

Entire Agreement

These Terms, along with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Anchor.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect.

No Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision does not constitute a waiver of that right.

Assignment

You may not transfer or assign your rights under these Terms. We may assign our rights to any affiliate or successor.

Force Majeure

We are not liable for delays or failures due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control (natural disasters, wars, pandemics, etc.).

17. Apple App Store Terms

If you download the App from the Apple App Store, you agree that:

• These Terms are between you and Anchor, not Apple
• Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance
• Apple is not responsible for the App or its content
• Apple is not liable for any claims related to the App
• Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them

18. Google Play Store Terms

If you download the App from Google Play, you agree to comply with Google Play's Terms of Service.

19. Export Compliance

You agree to comply with all export and import laws and regulations. You may not use the App in countries where it is prohibited.

20. Feedback and Suggestions

If you provide feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the App:

• You grant us the right to use them without compensation
• We have no obligation to implement your suggestions
• You waive any rights to such feedback
